The Testimony of Linda Shortt

Back to Testimony Page

For years I had been a faithful church member. I taught a Sunday School Class, sang in the choir, worked in the bus ministry as a Bus Captain. I went on visitation, inviting people to be saved, even took my Bible and led souls to Christ. To look at me, you would have thought I was what a Christian should be. There was one thing wrong with this, I was not saved, I was on my way to Hell because I had never asked Jesus to be my Savior. I had sort of “turned over a new leaf, changed my ways, but I was the same old person I had always been, just trying on my own to do better. If I had died during this time period I would have gone straight to Hell. On June 3,1973, I realized I was lost and ask Christ to save me.

I know without a doubt that if I died tonight, I would go to Heaven. I am not saying I am perfect, or that I deserve to go to Heaven. I am saying that I am forgiven. I still make mistakes and still sin, but Jesus is my Savior and one day I will see Him face to face. Until then I have to lean on Him. I don’t know about you, but without the Lord I don’t think I would make it from day to day. I find that I need Him more each day.
